INCOMING STUDENTS

Academics

Studying at a Liberal Arts College can be very different to our more traditional education system in Singapore. Here are some tips and information so you can better navigate around the education system here.

Difference in Style of Learning Compared to Singapore

BREADTH VS. DEPTH

Many Singaporean students will be used to learning everything deeply and doing a million practice questions for every topic, but that isn’t the case here. Most courses here emphasize breadth and understanding instead of doing a million practice questions, and it shows in the exams.

CLASS PARTICIPATION

Another important difference is the focus on class participation. Many lecturers encourage class participation during lectures, and some even enforce this.
